Solar Power Technology

Solar Tech

We are early experimenters and innovators of using solar and artificial light to power custom hardware and watches. Even though the photovoltaic effect was invented and implemented in 1839 by Alexandre-Edmond Becquerel, also why it is also known as the "Becquerel effect", silicon solar cells in the early days of our company were both large and expensive. We experimented with the miniaturization of solar catchers and came up with the idea of integrating them into a watch. Mr Eyerman hand built this watch and it was a success. This was before the advent of any commercial solar watches like watches from Seiko etc. which were first sold in 1978. This is the same technology used in watches like the Citizen Eco-Drive of today.
